Dhanbad, March 8: The state government’s advertisement for the appointment of B Sc and MLT Para medical staff has sparked a major controversy as both the subjects are not taught in medical colleges across Jharkhand.
The Jharkhand government had recently issued vacancies for different posts of paramedical staff including B Sc and Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT).
The Jharkhand Para Medical Staff Association (JPSA) has strongly opposed the vacancy for the posts of BSC and MLT lab technician staff and has urged Additional Chief Secretary (health) Arun Kumar Singh to cancel the advertisement.
The JPSA in its memorandum to the ACS health has pointed out that since both the subjects (BSc and MLT) are not in the nursing course of Jharkhand, obviously the nursing students of other states would grab the seats. So this advertisement should be cancelled.
Dr Ganesh Kumar, nursing course in-charge of Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical college Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad when contacted today admitted that there is no B Sc and MLT Para medical course in medical colleges of Jharkhand. “In our state, only a two-year diploma course of Para medical is being taught,” he said.
“It is ironic of the state that while leaders are talking about giving priority to locals in appointment, on the other side, vacancy is issued for the subjects (lab technicians) that are not available in the state,” said Raju Mahto, spokesperson of JPSA.
The Para medical course was started in medical colleges of Jharkhand in 2006. But even after 16 years when for the first time the state government has issued an advertisement for the vacancy, unfortunately, that too is full of anomalies.
The Para Medical Staff Association warned that nursing students would launch massive agitation in Ranchi and the other 23 districts of the state if the health department fails to cancel the advertisement for the vacancy of BSc and MLT.
