Ranchi, Sept.20: Offline sessions for classes 6 to 8 in Jharkhand government schools can begin on Thursday or Friday. On Monday, the Department of School Education and Literacy may issue a guideline on the subject. All of the conditions for offline lessons will be the same as they were for the opening of schools for classes 9 to 12. The schools will be given 2-3 days for getting everything sanitised. Online education for children in classes VI and VII would begin after around 18 months in the state, while for class VIII it would begin after five months.
This will allow 20.54 lakh government school students to attend normal classes. The coursework has been reduced by 25% in this academic session as well due to school closures. The Department of Home, Prison, and Disaster Management has released recommendations for the opening of schools for classes 6 to 8. For the children to attend school, their parents’ approval will be required.
In schools, strict adherence to Covid rules will be enforced. Teachers will be required to receive at least one dosage of the vaccination. There will be no prayer meetings, sports, or cultural events. Classes will continue to be held both in person and online. Attendance will not be rewarded in any way.
To prevent corona infection, all schools in the state have been closed since March 17, 2020. After the numbers of covid patients receded, schools reopened in December last year for classes 10th and 12th, and in March this year for classes 8th, 9th, and 11th. From the month of April onwards, all schools were closed because of the second wave of Corona. Schools were allowed to reopen for classes IX through XII beginning in August.
