Jharkhand HC appoints amicus curiae to study mess in building plans

Ranchi, Dec.15: The Jharkhand High Court today appointed a four-member team of amicus curiae to take stock of the procedures adopted for approval of building plans in Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) and Ranchi Regional Development Authority (RRDA).

The amicus curiae will take stock of the procedure on December 21 after visiting RRDA and RMC. A day after visit of the amicus curiae the court will take up the matter for hearing. The team included R S Mazumdar, Indrajit Sinha, LCN Shahdeo and Prashant Kumar Singh, all lawyers.

A division bench headed by Justice S Chandrashekhar ordered this while hearing a petition in the matter of irregularities in approving building plans by the civic body.

The court has taken suo moto cognizance after it came into its knowledge through a newspaper that civic bodies charge Rs 20-30 per square feet extra besides the requisite fee of Rs 8 per square feet for approval of building plans.
