Ranchi, April 6: The Jharkhand High Court on Wednesday asked the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) to file a specific counter affidavit in response to the writ filed against the reservation provided in the PT results for the Civil Assistant Engineer Recruitment Main Examination.

Notably, Advocate Amritansh Vats on Wednesday filed a writ against the reservation provided by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) in the PT results for the Civil Assistant Engineer Recruitment Main Examination on behalf of JPSC aspirant Bhaskar Kumar and others. The main examination for the appointment was held from October 22 to 24, 2021.

A single bench of Justice Rajesh Shankar further questioned the JPSC whether horizontal reservation has been given to the sports quota for women and disabled quota and whether two different cut offs have been set for boys and girls in the EWS quota.

In this regard, Advocate Vats said, “The JPSC has once again applied reservation in a changed format for the Assistant Engineer examination held last year. We have raised questions on two issues, namely, cut offs for male and female candidates have been kept different under the EWS quota without a logical reason. Secondly, the JPSC has also provided horizontal reservation to the sports quota for women and disabled quota, which is not stated in the rules and regulations of the said exam.

He further said, “There is no place for any kind of reservation in the screening test. Hence the PT results should be set aside.”

Notably, JPSC Secretary Himanshu Mohan, while earlier talking to Lagatar24.com correspondent, had assured that all rules and regulations will be followed, after the fiasco of the 6th JPSC result controversy.

Meanwhile, a total of 5548 candidates have been declared successful for the main examination in the appointment since the year 2019. Of these, 4556 candidates are for civil engineering and 992 for mechanical engineering.
