Ranchi, Nov 28: The Jharkhand High Court on Monday dropped contempt proceedings against Katihar district magistrate Udayan Mishra after latter apologised for his mistake and promised to follow the high court direction.

The development took place in the division bench of Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice S.N.Prasad, where contempt petition filed by Bajrang Bali Stone Works was listed for hearing.

The owner of Jai Bagrang Bali Stone Works, Prakash Chandra Yadav, had alleged the district administration had given permission to operate their cargo ship in the river Ganga between Samda Ghat (Sahibganj, Jharkhand) and Manihari Ghat (Katihar, Bihar) but despite this operations were not permitted by the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI).

It was alleged that district administration of Sahibganj and Katihar not permitted to operate the cargo ship. And when the High Court passed the order in their favour, both the district administrations created hurdles. So he is unable to work and his business is affected.
