Jharkhand HC seeks reply from Centre, State on insurance cover for advocates

Ranchi, May 4: The Jharkhand High Court today issued notices to the Central Government, Jharkhand Government and Jharkhand State Bar Council while hearing a PIL filed for providing life insurance and health insurance coverage to advocates practising in Jharkhand.

The court gave four weeks’ time to file counter affidavits in the matter.

A division bench headed by Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra, while hearing the case, fixed June 26 for the next hearing of the case.

Bidesh Kumar Dhan had filed the PIL. Advocate Shadab Ansari represented him in the court. Solicitor General (SGI) and his assistant Shivani Julka appeared on behalf of the Central Government. Advocate Piyush Chitresh appeared on behalf of the State Government and Manoj Tandon on behalf of the Jharkhand State Bar Council.
