Ranchi, May 17: The Jharkhand High Court today sought a report from the state and union government on intrusion of Bangladeshi residents in Jharkhand’s Sahibganj and its adjoining areas in Jharkhand.

A division bench headed by Chief Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra gave the direction while hearing a PIL filed by a Jamshedpur based social worker Danial Danish explaining how the intrusion has started changing the demography of the area and posed threat to the existence of poor tribals.

Advocate Rajeev Kumar appearing on behalf of Danial informed the court that intruders are busy in ‘love jihad’ and ‘land jihad’ on the land of Jharkhand taking advantage of simplicity of tribal girls.

“Intruders trap tribal women in their love traps and marry them. After marriage, they field them as candidate in Panchayat election and through them siphon off government fund to promote anti-national activities. Several illegal Urdu schools are operational in the bordering area where intruders take shelter before they settle in the locality,” advocate Kumar said.

The high court directing the state and union to file an affidavit in the matter deferred hearing till July 21.
