Ranchi, May 13: The Jharkhand High Court today took a strong exception to the casual approach of Ranchi Municipal Corporation in filing a counter-affidavit and asked its advocate to be careful.
This was reflected during the hearing of a PIL filed taking the parking space of Nucleus Mall. The division bench comprising Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice SN Prasad observed that the civic body did not file a counter-affidavit properly despite proper direction in this regard.
The court rejected the half-heartedly filed affidavit and directed the concerned advocate to file a proper counter-affidavit giving a parawise reply.
The court was also inclined to impose a cost of Rs 25,000 for the lackadaisical approach of the civic body but when the advocate appearing on behalf of the civic body requested not to do so ensuring a proper reply on the next day the court reconsidered its decision and did not impose fine.
The court deferred the hearing in the matter till June 17.
