Jharkhand Health Service Association poll: Six VPs, seven Joint Secys set to be elected unopposed

Dhanbad, July 2: Six vice-presidents and seven joint secretaries are all set to be elected unopposed in Jharkhand Health Service Association (JHSA) biennial poll 2022-24.

Besides them, Dr Stephen Xess of Ranchi is also all set to be declared as the new treasurer of the apex body as no other candidate has filed a nomination for the post.

Six candidates who are set to be elected unopposed are

  • Dr Sharad Kumar (dental wing)
  • Dr Meeta Sinha (female wing)
  • Dr Amrendra Prasad (headquarter Ranchi)
  • Dr Tanushree Chakraborty (S Chhotanagpur),
  • Dr Rajiv Ranjan (N Chhotanagpur)
  • Dr Santosh Prasad ( Palamu Division)

However, for the other two seats of vice-president posts, four candidates are in the fray.

For the Kolhan seat, Dr Bimlesh Kumar and Dr Alok Ranjan Mahto of Jamshedpur have staked claim while for one seat of Santhal Pargana, Dr Rajiv Kumar (Deoghar) and Dr Amit Kumar (Pakur) are in the race.

The seven candidates for the post of the joint secretary are

  • Dr Vikash Kumar Gupta (Ranchi headquarter)
  • Dr Dinesh Chandra Sawaiya (Kolhan)
  • Dr Basudha (S Chhotanagpur)
  • Dr Rahul Kumar (N Chhotanagpur)
  • Dr Suresh Kumar Ram (Palamu)
  • Dr Ehtasham Uddin (Santhal Pargana)
  • Dr Niket Choudhary (dental wing)

For the post of president, four candidates namely Dr Sahir Pall (Jamshedpur), Dr Mohan Paswan (Sahibganj), Dr Padam Prakash Sah (Khunti) and Dr Shankar Lal Murmu (Deoghar) have joined the contest.

For one post of secretary, three candidates namely Dr Mritunjay Kumar Singh (Pakur), Dr Sidheswer Baskey (Ranchi) and Dr Thakur Mritunjay Kumar Singh (Bokaro) are in the race.

After the closing of the nomination date, two candidates Dr Md Shamim Akhater (Ramgarh) and Dr Krishna Murari Singh (Ranchi) are in the field for one post of convener.

In 22 years of the formation of Jharkhand state, for the first time, ballots would be used for the selection of office-bearers. So far, right from the first elected president Dr Sumant Mishra to the present president Dr Marshal Aind (director-in-chief of health), all were elected unanimously.

Present President Dr Aind and Secretary Dr Bimlesh Kumar Singh have opted themselves out of the poll. The JHSA poll is scheduled for August 7.
