Ranchi, May 5: The Jharkhand High Court today directed the chief secretary to look into the matter of the disappearance of land-related documents from the record room of the state government.

Apart from this, the court also directed the registrars of the state to inform the Jharkhand High Court about the maintenance of documents present in registration offices across the state.

The situation arose after Vimala Devi, a resident of Ranchi, filed a petition saying that a person is wrongly claiming rights over the land on which she is living, and when the high court responding to her petition asked officials of the Ranchi Registration Office, they expressed their inability saying that they could not find the required document.

The court directed the chief secretary to look into the matter and deferred the hearing till June 6.
