Ranchi, Dec.9: The Jharkhand High Court today directed the state government to form a committee to probe the Trikut ropeway tragedy and submit its report before the court.
A division bench headed by Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan gave the direction after BIT Mesra and CIMFR submitted their report before the court.
Notably, the high court on April 12 had taken suo moto cognizance of the ropeway tragedy that took place on April 10 this year claiming three lives. The reason behind the incident is still a mystery and the state government so far has not come out with any reason behind the incident.
The ropeway had been set up and run by Damodar Ropeway Infrastructure Limited (DRIL).
During the hearing in the matter on April 25 the high court had directed to bring the report of BIT, Mesra and CIMFR, Dhanbad on record.
The ropeway is on Trikut Mountain on the Deoghar-Dumka main road under Mohanpur police station area of the Deoghar district. The ropeway wire of Trikoot Mountain was broken. Many of its passengers were trapped in the trolley itself. To remove it, the Army, NDRF and local administration were involved in the rescue.
