Ranchi, Sept.2: The Jharkhand High Court today ordered a CBI probe into the death of Rupesh Pandey, who was lynched by a mob on February 6 this year when he was participating in an immersion procession in Hazaribagh.
The order came from the court of Justice S.K.Dwivedi after it heard the petition of the deceased’s mother Urmila Pandey, who had knocked the door of the court through a criminal writ petition.
Pandey through her petition had expressed her dissatisfaction over the Jharkhand police inquiry.
Pandey’s mob lynching had created an unrest across the state. Though Chief Minister Hemant Soren had given compensation to the victim’s kin, family members were not satisfied by only compensation and wanted a proper probe to ensure justice to Rupesh, who was a minor when he was lynched.
Chairman of National Commission for Protection of Child Right Priyank Kanoongo had also taken serious note of the incident and had visited Hazaribagh on February 20 last.
