Ranchi, Aug 18: The Jharkhand High Court did not extend the stay imposed on the promotion of government employees.
The development took place in the court of Justice S N Pathak who earlier on August 4 had stayed the promotion process after he took up a petition pointing out loopholes in the promotion process.
Shrikant Dubey and others had filed the petition challenging the order of DGP issued on June 23, 2022. They had pointed out loopholes saying the order suggests that the ASI will be promoted and the ST-SC cadre can also take advantage of the promotion in the general category.
Earlier, the personnel department filed its affidavit in the matter and the advocate appearing on behalf of DGP sought a week-long time to file an affidavit.
Advocate Subhashish Rasik Soren who had filed an intervenor petition in the case on behalf of ST-SC Employees Union and others saying that many employees have got affected by the order, confirmed the development saying the development path has been paved for the promotion of government employees. He said that the court not extending the stay fixed September 8 as the next date of hearing in the matter.
It is noteworthy that in the year 2020, the government has issued a ban on promotion. In January 2022, the High Court ordered that the ban on promotion should be removed. The High Court had given this order in the WPS-1390/2021 case. On August 4 the order had again stopped the promotion process. With today’s development employees whose promotions were due heaved a sigh of relief.
