Ranchi, May 20: A team led by Jharkhand State Housing Board chief engineer Narendra Prasad Sharma today inspected a hospital construction site near old Shiv Temple (Budhwa Mahadev) in Harmu and directed the contractors engaged in the construction to appear before him in his office.
The inspection was done in the afternoon following complaints of encroachment of housing board land by the hospital, where a hotel Ramdiri Residency used to exist.
During his inspection, the chief engineer noticed that the building materials were spread on the open space the board had left for the use of people residing in weaker section quarters and the road connecting the residential area with Thana Outpost and the vendor market.
A section of locality residents said it was for the first time any authority has inspected the construction site.
“The man behind the entire work is Ranjan Singh, a noted contractor of the city. Earlier he used to run a hotel but later he decided to let someone run the hospital. As he is well connected, very few dare to raise voice against him or persons associated with him fearing personal enmity. This is the first time I have noticed any authority visiting the construction site. The hospital building is being constructed in violation of building by laws; neither set back has been left nor parking space has been provided. This is like the second Pulse Hospital coming in the city,” the resident said.
Abhishekh Kumar Singh, who was talking to the chief engineer during the inspection, said the construction work is being done by Parwez Ansari. Asked who will run the hospital, he preferred remaining tight-lipped.
