Ranchi, May 16: The Special (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) court today sent 2011 batch IAS officer Chhavi Ranjan in judicial custody till May 25.
The development took place after the ED team produced Ranjan after the end of his 10-day remand period. Before Ranjan was produced he underwent medical examination and a report suggested his BP and sugar were under control and free from Covid-19.
Ranjan landed in trouble for his acts and omission while working as Ranchi deputy commissioner. His name surfaced in a scam involving army land in Ranchi and others. The ED arrested him on May 4 at 9.55 pm and produced before the court the next date.
The IAS, who expressed ignorance about ED accused power broker Prem Prakash and denied his any connection during questioning, got exposed when the ED procured a CCTV footage revealing meeting of Ranjan with Prakash in jail on May 5 night.
The ED officials so far have concluded that the IAS officer masterminded the land scam in Ranchi using his official position and influence.
