Ranchi: The Jharkhand government has formally launched its statewide paddy procurement campaign today, activating 783 procurement centres simultaneously. Farmers will receive a combined rate of Rs 2,450 per quintal, including a state bonus, a move expected to boost their income and morale ahead of the procurement season.
Minister Irfan Ansari Mobilises Lawmakers for Campaign Rollout
Health, Food Supply and Disaster Management Minister Dr Irfan Ansari has taken a hands-on approach to ensure the success of the initiative. He has been personally calling ministers, MPs and MLAs to invite them to participate in the inaugural events at various procurement centres. Emphasising the importance of farmer confidence, he urged all public representatives to join the programme in any capacity.
Ansari stressed that even if a representative cannot attend in person, they should address farmers online to extend their support.
Government Aims to Strengthen Farmers Economically
The minister also instructed district supply officers to coordinate with local public representatives so that each centre begins procurement in an organised manner. He noted that Jharkhand has seen a strong agricultural season this year, resulting in widespread enthusiasm among farmers.
Reiterating the government’s commitment, he said that making farmers self-reliant and economically stronger is a top priority, and that every necessary facility and safeguard will be ensured.
