Ranchi, Oct.18: Following the assassination of around 12 non-Kashmiri labourers in Kashmir by terrorists, the migrant labour control room in Jharkhand, which is run by the Phia Foundation, has gone into overdrive to learn about the existence of Jharkhand labour in the province and their welfare.
Having no data suggesting their numbers and localities they are working in, the control room faces difficulties in sharing any information regarding Jharkhand labourers in Kashmir. However, those sitting in the control room are heaving sigh of relief as there is no distress call from any troubled area of the union territory.
Team leader of the control room, Shikha Lakra, made Lagatar24.com aware of the situation saying that all efforts are being made to know the well-being of the workers if any of them are working there.
“I expect some information in this regard by evening. So far there is no incoming call from Kashmir,” Lakra said, expressing her inability to share any information regarding Jharkhandi labourers in Kashmir.
Killing of non-Kashmiri labourers by terrorists has worried people across the country. As many as 12 labourers including 10 from Bihar and 2 from UP have been gunned down by the terrorists. They chose targeted firing to create a rift between Kashmiris and the people of rest of India to isolate them and then take advantage of their aloofness in the long run to disturb the entire country after making Kashmir the epicentre of terrorist activities.
“During winter season, the Kashmiris move across the country to sell their warm clothes. They come in big numbers and carry out their business by establishing good rapport with local residents in Ranchi too. This is an attempt to disturb their business and deprive them from their source of earning,” a businessman in the city said.
