Ranchi, Jan. 24: An elderly man of Sahibganj whose son Neeraj Yadav is a witness of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has lodged an online FIR against some relatives and supporters of Bacchu Yadav for threatening him to kill him and his son for speaking against Bacchu Yadav before the ED.
The complaint is addressed to the officer in-charge of Mufassil police station.
On being contacted, an official of the police station said that they have no information of any such incident. But if an online complaint has been lodged the matter will be looked into, he added.
Bacchu Yadav is an accused in the illegal mining case and the ED arrested and chargesheeted him.
The complainant, Janardan Yadav (60), who is father of Neeraj Yadav, said that the Incident took place on the night of January 22 when he had gone to attend the ring ceremony of the son of his co-villager Yugesh Yadav.
He said that he was surrounded by Gora Sanjay, Kala Sanjay and others. Gora Sanjay and Kala Sanjay are nephews of Bacchu Yadav and they were carrying pistols and even fired a bullet aiming at him which he narrowly escaped.
The complainant said that Gora Yadav, Sanjay Yadav and their associates, including Akash Yadav (son of Bacchu Yadav) further assaulted him. He said that they were threatening him to teach lessons after his son Neeraj Yadav recorded his statement against Bacchu Yadav in the Rs 1000 crore illegal stone mining case.
He said that he somehow managed to escape.
Notably, in the past couple of months a number of witnesses of the ED or their family members were arrested by the district police on one or other charges.
Earlier, the Sahibganj police had arrested one Vijay Hansda under sections of the Arms Act and the IPC. He had filed an FIR against illegal mining accused Pankaj Mishra and others for carrying illegal mining at Nimbu Pahad. Later on, the police allegedly pressurized him to withdraw his case. But Vijay Hansda protested that he never gave his consent to withdraw the complaint. Later on, the ED took up his FIR for investigation.
One Ashoka Yadav who is the witness of the ED was arrested under Jharkhand Crime Control Act. Sahibganj based stone miner Prakash Chandra Yadav was arrested in an Arms Act case and later on booked under Crime Control Act. His son Rajhansh Yadav is a key witness of the ED in the illegal mining case.
