Ranchi, Oct.4: Finance minister Rameshwar Oraon demanded proper compensation against land acquired for the government projects while addressing a public gathering assembled under the leadership of Congress party leader Sunny Toppo at Bero to protest against improper compensation against the land acquired for broadening of NH-23 and construction of a bypass road.

Minister Oraon said in case any land is acquired beside the road for a government project a landowner is entitled to get four times the market price of the land according to land acquisition laws formulated in 2013 on the direction of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

Oraon said his wife got Rs 57 lakh as compensation in lieu of 25 decimal acquired land while he has learnt that villagers in Bero were being offered compensation ranging between Rs 2000 to Rs 18000 per decimal. “This is injustice,” Oraon said.
