Jharkhand: Miscreants kill army jawan in Gumla

Ranchi, Jan 12: In an incident of midnight attack by criminals in Jharkhand, an army jawan was killed while his wife sustained injuries. The incident occurred last night at Khora Jamtoli, a village about 100km from Jharkhand’s capital under the Sadar police station area of Gumla district.

The Jawan was identified as Parna Oraon. He had to go home to pass this holiday. Superintendent of police of Gumla Ehtesham Waquarib confirmed the incident saying police are in action to identify and arrest the criminals.

A police official said as many as five criminals barged into the house of an army jawan after he was going to sleep after dinner with his wife Budheshwari Devi and three-year-old daughter.

“Criminals attacked the jawan first with sharp-edged weapons. When his wife came for the rescue, they attacked her till she fell down senseless. After she regained senses, she noticed the jawan lying in a pool of blood and raised the alarm,” a police official said.

A local resident said unknown criminals also attacked Oraon on June 15, 2022. “The complaint was made at Gumla police station but no action was taken,” the resident said.
