Ranchi: A section officer named Pintu Kumar in Jharkhand’s Rural Development Department sparked fresh buzz among colleagues on Thursday after setting a cockroach-themed WhatsApp status following an uproar over the distribution of work among section officers in the department.
What Triggered the Controversy
The dispute began when Pintu Kumar was allocated work from four out of 14 sections in the Rural Development Department — the largest share given to any single officer, and notably covering the department’s most important functions. The unequal distribution led to a commotion among other section officers.
The Cockroach Status
In what colleagues interpreted as a lighthearted response to getting the most work, Pintu Kumar set a WhatsApp status featuring the cockroach meme that has gone viral nationally in recent weeks, referencing a remark attributed to the Chief Justice of India comparing youth to cockroaches. The Chief Justice has since clarified that his words were misquoted. The status sparked multiple rounds of discussion among section officers in the department.
