Dhanbad, March 27: The Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Union (RCMU), Congress Party’s frontal organization of miners, has called for a meeting of central committee officials and members at Bermo  (Bokaro) on April 6 to review the present status of the National Coal Wage Agreement (NCWA)  and other issues of miners.

RCMU General Secretary AK Jha said that all the officers of the central committee, executive committee and regional committee office-bearers have been invited to the meeting to discuss over the present status of NCWA XI and the issues of miners, especially outsourcing employees and organizational matters.

RCMU president Jayamangal Singh alias Anup Singh (Congress Bermo MLA) would preside over the meeting.

“ The RCMU would also discuss the implementation of the decisions taken at Puri, Odisha  convention  in December 2022 and the INTUC national convention held in New Delhi in February 2023. The RCMU would also chalk out a programme for protesting disinvestment policy of the central government in coal industry,” said AK Jha.

The RCMU, which was not invited at the JBCCI meeting held in Kolkata on January 3, 2023, is opposing the NCWA-XI signed between four national trade unions (HMS, BMS, AITUC and CITU) and Coal India Limited (CIL). INTUC claims to have  49,000 miners membership, the second largest in CIL after HMS.

The RCMU has also accused the BJP of plotting the disqualification of Congress Party’s former president Rahul Gandhi from  Lok Sabha membership. Jha said that the Federation and Indian National Trade Union Cong (INTUC) are with Rahul Gandhi and will launch an agitation for justice.
