Jamshedpur, May 6: If IMD statistics are any indication, Jharkhand so far has received deficient rain in the pre-monsoon months.
Notably, March to May is considered as pre-monsoon months.
IMD’s data of seasonal rainfall scenario (March 1 to May 5) revealed that out of 24 districts, one district received excess; three districts received normal, seven districts received deficient, 10 districts received heavy deficient while the rest three districts failed to open their rainfall account.
Cumulatively, the seasonal rainfall was deficient (departure -56%) over the state during the period ( March to May so far.
As far as maximum temperature is concerned, it was observed above normal during the first half of the week and below normal to normal during the latter half of the week over most parts of the state during the past week. It remained in the range (of 31-46)°C over the state.
Overall, the minimum temperature was observed as above normal during the first half of the week and below normal to normal during the latter half of the week over most parts of the state during the past week. It was observed in the range of (20-29)°C during the week.
Chief synoptic conditions as of today showed a trough from Punjab to Manipur now runs from cyclonic circulation over northwest Madhya Pradesh to Meghalaya across Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and West Bengal at 0.9 km above mean sea level.
Under the influence of the present synoptic features, dynamical scenario and model guidance –
Rainfall forecast for week 1 ( May 6– May 12) and Week 2 (May 13 – May 19).
Week 1: Light to moderate rain at isolated places over the state is expected. Cumulatively above normal rainfall is predicted for this week.
Week 2: Cumulatively normal rainfall would occur over the state during this week.
Notably, currently, day’s temperatures are at comfortable levels with most districts notching below 40 degrees Celsius
