Jharkhand senior, under-19 badminton teams leave for Kolkata

Dhanbad, Aug 10: 17-member Jharkhand senior men’s, women’s and under-19 boys and girls’ badminton teams left for Kolkata to participate in the East Zone inter-state championship scheduled to be held there from August 11 to 14.

The team left for Kolkata from Ranchi by train on Wednesday late evening. Two players, men’s singles champion Shantanu Sharma (Seraikela) and boy’s under-19 runner-up Ronak Negi joined the team at Jamshedpur. Whereas, girl’s under-19 runner-up Vaibhav Maan reached Kolkata by a separate train.

The officials said other selected players of the team assembled at Ranchi railway station and went together under coaches and managers.

Men’s team- Shantanu Sharma (Seraikela), Priyanshu Tirki, Emmanuel Kujur, Niraj Kesri (all Ranchi), Mukesh Kumar, Akash Pandit (Giridih), Ramij Alam (West Singhbhum), Vinay Kumar Singh (Ranchi).

Women’s team- Manisha Rani Tirki, Zeenat Arra, Yogita Bora (all Ranchi), Vaishnavi (Deoghar).

Boys’ under-19 team- Niraj Keshri (Ranchi), Ronak Meri (Jamshedpur), Priyanshu Tirki, Harshit Raj.

Girls under-19 team- Yogita Bora ( Ranchi), Vaibhav Maan ( Dhanbad), Ananya Singh (Ranchi), Shruti (Dhanbad).

Coaches and managers- Ravi Kesri, Rahul Kumar,  Ranjan Ray,  Ashok Kumar.
