Ranchi: Jharkhand is bracing for five days of unsettled weather starting September 21, with the meteorological department attributing the change to a low-pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal, and warning of thunder and strong winds in several parts of the state during this period.
Rain to Intensify Over the Week, Peak on September 23
Light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunder and winds of 30-40 kmph, is expected in parts of the state on September 21, with rainfall activity spreading to more areas on September 22, including multiple spells through the day in Ranchi and several other districts. The rain is expected to be at its most intense on September 23, with thunder and showers forecast across nearly the entire state, and heavy rainfall likely in parts of East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Saraikela-Kharsawan, Ranchi, Khunti, Ramgarh, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Giridih, Deoghar and Jamtara, along with winds reaching 40-50 kmph. The rain is expected to continue on September 24, with heavy showers possible in parts of the north-eastern districts and central areas bordering Dhanbad, along with thunder and strong winds. On September 25, rain is likely to persist across several parts of the state, with an alert for heavy rainfall, thunder and winds up to 40-50 kmph in some areas.
Temperatures Likely to Drop, Caution Advised
The weather department has said maximum temperatures across the state could fall by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius due to the change in weather conditions. People have been advised to avoid open spaces during periods of rain and thunder.
