Ranchi: The Jharkhand government has revised the public holiday date for Eid-ul-Adha (Bakrid), moving it from May 27 to May 28, 2026, following moon sighting confirmation.

Holiday Date Officially Amended

The Department of Personnel, Administrative Reforms and Rajbhasha has issued a formal notification stating that while the original 2026 government calendar had listed Bakrid on May 27, the festival will now be observed on May 28 based on the sighting of the moon.

What Changes for Government Offices

As per the revised notification, Thursday, May 28, 2026, will be a public holiday across the entire state under the NI Act. Wednesday, May 27, 2026, will now be a regular working day, with all government offices functioning as usual.
