Dhanbad, April 25: The Jharkhand Sikh Welfare Committee (JSWC) has condemned the act of sacrilege in Morinda Town Gurudwara and has asked the Punjab government to conduct a high-level probe of the incident.
Jharkhand Sikh Welfare Committee president Sardar Sewa Singh, who is also a member of Takht Sri Harmandir Ji Sahib Patna, shot off a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today expressing concern over the incident and demanded stern action against the guilty person.
On Sunday, a turbaned Sikh stormed into Morinda Town Gurudwara, Kotwali of Ropar district, beat up devotees and employees and committed acts of sacrilege before being overpowered by the committee members.
“ Jharkhand Sikhs are upset over this incident. It has been seen that since the AAP government was formed, acts of sacrilege incidents have increased in Punjab. So you are requested to check such type of incidents immediately and conduct a high-level probe of Morinda Gurudwara and punish the guilty person duly,” said Sardar Sewa Singh in his letter to the Punjab Chief Minister.
Sardar Sewa Singh said that no Sikh can dare to enter Gurudwara wearing a shoe and commit such an act of sacrilege.
The Jharkhand Sikh Welfare Committee has also questioned the role of Sevadar who remained mute at that time.
The Jharkhand Sikh Welfare Committee has also threatened to boycott the programme of Bhagwant Mann if such type of incident takes place again in Gurudwara of Punjab.
