Jharkhand team announced for National boxing championship

Dhanbad, Sept 11: Thirteen members of the Jharkhand squad have been announced for the National boxing championship scheduled to be held at Inspire Institute of Sports Belari in Karnataka from September 15 to September 21.

Announcing the team, acting secretary of the Jharkhand Boxing Association (JBA) Capt. Amitabh on Saturday said that in the 13-member state squad, six boxers have been selected from Tata Boxing Centre Jamshedpur followed by three from Dhanbad district and two boxers each have been included from East Singhbhum and West Singhbhum.
“Sukhlal Soy, Kartik Mahto would be coaches while Mahati Ugrasandi has been nominated as manager of the team,” said Capt Amitabh.
Members of the team are as follows:-  Selay Soy (46-48 Kg), Suraj Soy (48-51 Kg), Krishna Jora (51-54 Kg), Jaydev Devgam (54-57 Kg), Kiran Deep Singh (57-60 Kg), Rajkumar Parmanik (60.5-63 Kg), Bhaskar Hansda (63.5- 67 Kg), Himanshu Kumar Singh (67-71 Kg), Vishal Thapa (71-75 Kg), Vikash Tiwari (75-80 Kg), Suraj Kumar (80-86 Kg), Anuj Kumar (86-92 Kg), Mahtab Alam (+92 Kg).

Praising the selection of three boxers from Dhanbad district in the state team, District Boxing Association general secretary Paritosh Kumar said our players have proved that despite all hurdles (without Boxing Ring practice) they have the knack to excel. “ I am confident the state team would do better in the national championship in Karnataka and Dhanbad boxers would bring medals,” said Paritosh Kumar.
