Ranchi, June 4: IPS who have completed 14 years of service in Jharkhand have not got a promotion till now. Actually, three IPS of the 2009 batch should have got promoted to DIG rank by 31 December 2022. But these three IPS have not been promoted to the rank of DIG even after five months have passed. Those who have not been promoted include Sanjay Ranjan Singh (CO Musabani), Indrajit Mahatha (CO Zap 2) and Sanjeev Kumar (Dhanbad SSP). Due to non-promotion on time and delay of five months in promotion, the salaries of the officers have also been incurring losses.

The state government promoted IPS officers of the 2005 batch to IG rank on 29 December 2022. Apart from this, nine IPS of the 2010 batch have also got a promotion in selection grade. But the 2009 batch IPS have not yet been promoted to the rank of DIG.

Jharkhand Police is currently facing a shortage of IPS officers. 12 important posts of IPS officers are running on additional charges in the state. At the same time, 32 posts are lying completely vacant. At present, 149 posts of IPS are sanctioned in Jharkhand. Out of which 111 IPS are in Jharkhand. Out of these 111 IPS, 22 are on central deputation. The lack of IPS is directly affecting the execution of administrative works. Due to delays in supervision, the number of pending cases is increasing. Its effect is being felt in the state from law and order to the Naxal campaign.
