Ranchi: The Jharkhand government is set to construct its own permanent guest house in Odisha’s renowned pilgrimage and tourist destination of Puri, with the proposed building near the beach expected to cost around Rs 99 crore. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has approved the project’s Detailed Project Report (DPR), with preparations now underway to complete the administrative approval process.
Current Guest House Operates from Rented Building
At present, the Jharkhand government’s guest house in Puri operates out of a rented facility. The estimate for the permanent structure has already been prepared, and the project has also received technical approval from the Building Construction Department.
New Facility to Accommodate Officials and General Public
The proposed guest house will provide accommodation for ministers, government officials and staff travelling from Jharkhand to Puri, as well as members of the general public, though stays will require prior booking through the relevant department.
Land Allotted Near Beach and Konark Wildlife Sanctuary
The Odisha government has allotted approximately 0.35 acres of land in Balukhanda village, located in the Puri Sadar area, for the project. The plot lies close to the beach and near the Konark Wildlife Sanctuary area, with the proposed guest house set to be built roughly 8 kilometres from the Lord Jagannath Temple.
