Dhanbad, April 1: Transport Minister Champai Soren today said that mineral-rich Jharkhand under the leadership of Hemant Soren is heading to become a model state in the country.
The transport minister, who was jointly inaugurating a Road Over Bridge (ROB) along with BJP Dhanbad MP P N Singh and Nirsa MLA Aparna Sengupta at Kumardhubi, around 40 km away from here, on Saturday afternoon, said that development has been seen after 23 years of the creation of the state under the wings of young leader Hemant Soren.
“ Keeping transport problems of remote villagers in mind, the state government has launched ‘ Mukhyamantri Gadi Yojna’ and fixed 200 routes across the state for providing facilities,” said the minister.
826.3 metres long bridge which was built at the cost of Rs 45 crores connecting Kumardhubi and Mugma railway station is a joint venture of the state government and the ministry of railway.
Without naming the former Nirsa MLA Arup Chatterjee, the JMM minister criticised him for unofficially inaugurating the over bridge, as Arup Chatterjee on Friday inaugurated the bridge stoking the political controversy. “No work should be done in excitement and prejudice,” said the minister.
Dhanbad MP PN Singh, on the occasion, said that the perennial traffic jam problems of Kumardhubi people have been solved by this over bridge. Kumardhubi which had lost its identity as an industrial city is now regaining its glory. He also criticised former MLA Arup Chatterjee for inaugurating the bridge before the transport minister.
On the occasion, Nirsa MLA and former minister Aparna Sengupta and Chirkunda Nagar Parishad chairman Dabloo Bauri were also present.
Asansol Divisional Railway manager (DRM) Parmanand Sharma welcomed the guests and said that the long-standing demand of the local people for ROB has been fulfilled.
