Dhanbad, Jan 10: Despite tight security, thousands of tribals today assembled in Madhuban of Giridih district in protest against the declaration of Parasnath hills as a religious place for Jain and announced a fight to the finish for the protection of their sacred religious place Marang Buru Disom Majhi Than.
As per their pre-announced programme, right from the morning, tribal people from different places of three states Odisha, Bengal and Jharkhand reached the Marang Buru Disom Majh Than on the hill of Madhuban carrying traditional weapons and beating drums and Nagara.
Women, children and youth were in large numbers participating. Former MP Salkhan Murmu and Parasnath Bachao Sangharsh Samiti coordinator Sikandar Hembram were leading the main procession.
After performing Puja on Marang Buru Disom Majh Than, agitators burnt an effigy of the Prime Minister, chief minister of Jharkhand and Giridih MLA for declaring the pious place of tribal Marang Buru Disom Majh Than religious place of Jain and came down to rally place.
Later on, while addressing the rally, Parasnath Bachao Sangharsh Samiti coordinator Sikandar Hembram alleged that Jain followers have bought tribal with money for getting Parasnath Hills declared a religious place of Jain.
“Administration should lodge FIR and take action against such persons otherwise tribal people would do Sendra (chopped off),” warned Sikandar Hembram.
For maintaining law and order in Giridih, the administration deployed a heavy police force in all streets and lanes of Madhuban in wake of tribal procession and demonstration. Traders had kept the shutters of their establishments down in the area Drone cameras were monitoring the procession and rally of agitators continuously.
In wake of the tribal procession today devotees reached the hilltop of Parasnath by foot rather than using bikes or Dolly. Till filing the report tribal leaders were addressing the rally.
