Ranchi, Nov.5: The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) staged a dharna near Raj Bhawan to protest against the ED notice to Jharkhand chief minister Heman Soren for questioning.
Though the number of Congress party and RJD members were limited in the dharna, it gave city residents an opportunity to see UPA workers together in the agitation against the ED action.
“The ED started a probe into the scam which had taken place when the BJP was in power and Raghubar Das was chief minister but now its direction changed and the probe agency has trained its gun towards the UPA leaders. We condemn this selective action,” Rajya Sabha member Mahua Maji participating in the protest programme said.
Executive president of Congress, Bandhu Tirkey, echoed Maji saying the probe agency is working under the direction of BJP, which is intentionally using the constitutional agency to settle its score with its rivals in political clashes.
“The BJP is trying to destabilise the democratically elected government,” Tirkey said.
Asked Maji regarding the low turnout of the RJD and Congress party workers in the programme, she said: “Congress is focussing in Palamu while the RJD is already weak as far as its number of members are concern and thus there limited number in the dharna is not a major issue,” Maji said.
