Ranchi, May 17: Jharkhand defeated Haryana 3-2 to win their first bronze in seven years during the 12th Hockey India National Senior Women’s Hockey Championship held at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

The team last won a medal (silver) in 2015.

After getting defeated by Odisha in the semis, the team made a comeback to win Bronze during the third and fourth place decider.

Dipti Toppo from Jharkhand scored the first goal for her team in the 28th minute of the match. The team scored their second goal in the 40th minute by Albela Rani Toppo. The third goal was scored by Vetan Dungdung.

Haryana gave a good fight and managed to score two goals in the second half but could not Jharkhand’s tally of 3.

Hockey Jharkhand’s president Bholanath Singh congratulated the team and said that the team has been performing consistently and this is all due to the camps that are being held across the state.
