Ranchi, Jan 30: All medical students taking admissions in nursing schools will now be made to provide a mandatory one year of service in government hospitals. Well-placed sources in the health department have claimed that Jharkhand Nursing Council will be implementing this system as the admissions begin this year.
Notably, it will be mandatory for a nurse to serve in a government hospital for one year, after completion of the nursing course. At the end of the service in said hospitals, the nurses will be provided with experience certificates as well.
This system has already been implemented in cases of doctors finishing their PGs in the state. This means that even doctors are mandated to complete three years of service in government medical colleges and hospitals of the state after completing their courses.
Students doing nursing courses from government colleges will be made to fill the bond. At the time of admission, the students will have to provide a signed affidavit stating that after the completion of the course, they will serve in government hospitals for one year on an honorarium of Rs 10,000 per month and as GNM for Rs 12,000.
In case of violation, a fine of Rs one lakh will also be imposed on the students.
Meanwhile, an experience certificate will be given to the nurses after one year of service. On this basis, they will get a weightage of two marks in the regular appointment of ANM-GNM in Jharkhand.
For this, a provision will be made in the Nursing Recruitment Rules. This system will be implemented from this session itself.
This bond-based system will be implemented from the current session. On the other hand, the students studying in ANM-GNM training schools at present will be given the option of the bond.
Sources have also stated that the amount on said nurses who will opt for this arrangement will be borne by the civil surgeon of the concerned district for the payment of contract and honorarium to the personnel.
It will be the responsibility of all the civil surgeons of the state to take bond-based service from the nurses and will report it to the director chief and regional deputy director of health services.
At present, three-year compulsory service is being provided by the students who pass the medical PG examination in the state. For this, bonds are signed by the students.
There is also a provision of fining a student Rs 20 lakh as compensation in case of violation of the bond. Such a bond may also be implemented on MBBS students in the state in future.
