Ranchi, June 20: The Jharkhand School Education and Literacy Department along with the officials at the Jharkhand Education Project Council are set to change the colours of the school uniforms of students in government schools for the third time.
As per instructions of the Education Minister Jagarnath Mahato, a proposal in this regard was earlier prepared and sent to the education minister by Jharkhand Education Project, which has already been signed and forwarded.
Now, the colour and design of the dress of the students of classes one to five and class six to 12 will be different. Till now, the colour of the dress of the children of all the classes was the same.
As per sources, children will be given the new clothes from the new academic session that is to begin on July 1. Navy blue coloured pants and pink coloured shirts with navy blue ties will be given to the boys of classes one to five in the state schools. Meanwhile, girls will be given navy blue coloured skirts and pink coloured shirts.
On the other hand, the pants of the students in classes six to 12 will be green and the shirt will be of white and green colour. The salwar of the girl students will be green and the kurta will have hues of both white and green while the dupatta will be green.
Sources have confirmed that this is the third time that the colours of school uniforms of state schools will be changed. Speaking in this regard, State Project Director Kiran Kumari Pasi said, “There is going to be a change in the colour of the dress of the government school children of the state for the third time. Initially, the colours of children’s dresses were blue and white. It was changed in the year 2015-16 wherein the pants were maroon and the colour of the shirt was cream.”
“The scheme of giving clothes to children under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan was started. Earlier, all the students of classes one to eight and girl students from classes nine to 12 were given school uniforms in the state. However, now, even male students of class nine to 12 will also be given uniforms,” she added.
Meanwhile, the amount for new school uniforms is always sent to the accounts of children. However, reports released earlier claimed that around Rs 84 crore allocated for school uniforms was returned to the state because children did not have any kind of bank account. When questioned in this regard, state education secretary Rajesh Sharma said, “This responsibility has for now been given to the School Management Committees under JEPC. They will now take care of the uniforms.”
Notably, earlier, the colour of buildings of government schools in the state was also changed under guidelines issued by the Jharkhand Education Project Council. Schools will now be painted green.
