Jharkhand’s new health director-in-chief chalks out roadmap for health services

Dhanbad, July 5: The new director-in-chief of health (DIC) in the state, Dr Krishna Kumar, will focus on strengthening the primary health centre (PHC) to Sadar Hospitals across the state so that people get 100% benefits of the national as well as state-sponsored health programmes.

Dr Kumar, who took charge as director-in-chief of the state health department on Monday, said that he will also focus on ensuring the availability of medicines to all patients as there is no dearth of them at health centres in the state.

The new DIC said he would also focus on the promotion yoga system of medicines, especially, at urban PHCs across the state.

“The new roadmap of health could only be successful when all the doctors and health staff give their hundred percent performance. At the same time, I would also try to take notice of doctors nurses and other health staff’s problems so that people of the state could feel the change in health services,” said Dr Krishna Kumar.

The DIC said that since he has the experience of serving in 16 districts of the state in 34 years so far, he knows the grass-root level problems of maximum areas and how to improve that.

Senior-most 1988 batch medical officer

1988 batch medical officer Dr Krishna Kumar is a Master of Surgery (MS) and is MD in pathology. He has the credit of starting surgery in a hospital in Saraikela in 2012 and set a record of performing over 3000 sterilizations in the Chatra district.

He was felicitated and given a special award for providing health services to lakhs of Kawar during Shrawani Mela in Deoghar when he was the civil surgeon there. He was also the first superintendent of Sheikh Bihari Medical College Hospital Hazaribagh.

Dr Krishna has also discharged the responsibility of state nodal officer of leprosy before assuming the office of DIC.

“I express my gratitude to the chief minister, health minister and additional chief secretary of health for allowing me to serve people in the field of health. My only wish is to retire doing some extraordinary service in health,” he said.
