Ranchi, Nov 29: The Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) on Tuesday expressed concern over the regular power cuts in the state even as it congratulated the Hemant Soren government for its historic decision to regularise the unauthorised buildings at its executive committee meeting.

“Adequate availability of quality power supply is essential for the economic progress of any state. Jharkhand’s power distribution, despite many efforts by various business and industrial organizations over the last decade, remains the same and it continues to be a pain for both individuals and businesses,” FJCCI said in a note.

If the entrepreneurs continue to face power crises each year, then it will be difficult for the government to achieve its development objectives, the chamber said. For industrial development, job generation and overall economic development, it is necessary that other options are considered for the state’s power system, it added.

“Traders unanimously demanded handing over the state’s power distribution system to professionals. FJCCI Chairman Kishor Mantri said that he has taken up the matter with the state energy secretary,” the statement said, adding that the chamber is focussing on the expansion of the organization in all the districts of the state. Initiatives are being taken to solve local problems by visiting different districts every month.

The chamber expressed its gratitude to the Chief Minister for the initiative to regularize the buildings built without maps in the urban areas of the state and described it as a revolutionary decision of the government. Mantri appealed to all the citizens to study the draft of the regularization plan and inform the government of their suggestions.

The chamber is organizing a meeting with various business and industrial organizations on December 7 to collect all suggestions and to inform the government about a popular policy that can benefit more people. The members present in the meeting discussed various other issues including organising a mega trade fair in Ranchi in February 2023.
