Dhanbad, March 2: Dr PP Sah, the president of the Jharkhand Health Service Association (JHSA) has drawn ire from the doctors for attending duty during the state-wide strike call of the organization on Wednesday.
While on call of JHSA, Indian Medical Association (IMA), Medical College teachers, government and private doctors were on strike (Token boycott of health service) on Wednesday, JHSA president Dr PP Sah, who is district tuberculosis officer (DTO) of Simdega district, attended an official function in office organized for distribution of ‘Food Basket’ among TB patients.
Medical officers ( government doctors) of the state while expressing resentment said that the JHSA double standard of the JHSA president has been exposed. Being head of the organization (JHSA) Dr Sah sent all doctors on strike but same time attended his duty in the office at Simdega to live in the good book of government.
Sources said JHSA secretary Dr Thakur Mritunjay Kumar Singh too had an official programme of ‘Disabled Camp’ in Ramgarh district on Wednesday but he refused to attend due to a token boycott call of JHSA. He was forced to extend the function to the next date.
Ranchi based ex- JHSA office-bearers said that former director in-chief health Dr Sumant Mishra and Dr Praveen Chandra were very close to the government but when they became JHSA president, both of them openly participated in the agitation against the government without minding their post.
“Since he is president, he should have monitored the agitation across the state rather than joining the duty,” said Ranchi’s doctor, requesting not to quote his name.
Dr Shahir Pal of Jamshedpur who had contested against Dr PP Sah in the election for the post of president did not receive the call for comment despite repeated attempt.
However, JHSA secretary Dr Thakur Mritunjay Kumar Singh admitted that Dr Sah made inadvertently mistake by attending the programme.
“JHSA president ensure OPD boycott of doctors in the district and monitored agitation of JHSA and IMA. It was a minor issue and only a lobby of doctors who lost the JHSA election in August 2022 are raising the issue,” said Dr Thakur.
