Ranchi, May 13: Accused of shooting a girl Nivedita on Friday near Patel Chowk under the Argora police station area, Ankit Kumar, today committed suicide by shooting himself with the same firearm he used to shoot the girl.
The incident took place in the Jharkhand capital when the police were conducting raids at different locations in Ranchi and the youth’s native village at Nawada district in Bihar.
The accused came live on his Facebook with ID Ankit Ahir before committing the suicide and allowed the entire scene of suicide on Facebook.
Officer-in-charge of Argora police station, Vinod Kumar, confirmed the incident saying ‘suicide was committed near Madan Dhaba under Sadar police station area.’ Probed further he said, ‘further investigation is going on.’
Primary investigation suggested Kumar had affairs with the girl. She had stopped talking with Kumar for the last two months. This angered the boy and in a fit of rage he killed her on Friday in a crowded road at Harmu.
The incident came under the criticism of BJP leaders, including BJP legislature party chief Babulal Marandi.
Before the police could arrest him, he committed suicide.
