J&K: 8 dead, several injured after mini bus falls into gorge

Doda, Oct 28: A major accident took place in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. A minibus going from Thathri to Doda fell into the gorge. In this accident, 8 people have lost their lives and several others were injured. Rescue is going on at the spot.

“Eight persons dead, several injured as a minibus travelling from Thathri to Doda fell into a gorge. Rescue operation underway”, said the Doda Additional Superintendent of Police.

Local people informed about the accident to security forces. Soon after, army personnel reached the spot. The jawans descended into the ditch and started evacuating the people trapped in the bus and admitted the injured to the hospital.

PM Modi expressed his grief over the incident and also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to the next of kin of those who have lost their lives, and Rs 50,000 for those injured.

Saddened by the road accident near Thatri, Doda in Jammu and Kashmir. In this hour of grief, I convey my condolences to the bereaved families.

An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to the accident in Jammu and Kashmir. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000: PM @narendramodi

Meanwhile, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said that he has spoken to Doda Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Sharma regarding the incident. The injured are being shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Doda. Whatever assistance is needed, will be provided, said the Union Minister.
