Srinagar: Following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, security forces have intensified search operations across Jammu and Kashmir. In a joint operation launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in Basantgarh and Udhampur, an encounter broke out with terrorists, resulting in the martyrdom of an Indian Army soldier. The anti-terror operation is still ongoing.

Operation Based on Specific Intelligence Input

The Indian Army’s White Knight Corps shared a post on X (formerly Twitter), confirming the joint operation with J&K Police in the Basantgarh and Udhampur regions. The operation was initiated based on credible intelligence inputs about terrorist presence in the area.

As soon as security forces reached the suspected location and made contact, terrorists opened heavy fire. In the initial exchange, a brave Indian Army soldier was critically injured. Despite being provided immediate medical assistance, the soldier succumbed to his injuries.

Army Foils Infiltration Bid at LoC, Two Terrorists Killed

Just a day earlier, on Wednesday, security forces achieved a significant success in Uri, where they foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC). Two terrorists were killed in the operation.

Forces recovered two AK-series rifles, a Chinese pistol, 10 kilograms of IED, and other materials from the terrorists’ hideout. Intelligence inputs suggest that the terrorists were planning a major attack, but were neutralised before executing their plans.
