Srinagar, June 27: Security forces detained a terrorist outside of Doda, Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday and recovered weapons and ammunition in his possession.

Fareed Ahmed, a Koti Doda inhabitant, was recognised as the terrorist. The security forces found a Chinese pistol, two magazines, 14 live rounds, and a cell phone.

Before the Amarnath Yatra, a police party set up a checkpoint on the outskirts of Doda town and detained a man who was carrying weapons and ammunition.

It was decided to detain the suspect. Investigation revealed that Fareed had been given the ammo by a suspect earlier in March with instructions to target the Doda police officers.

Further investigation revealed that the terrorist had undergone extensive radicalization, had been receiving calls from terrorist leaders located across the border, and had been inspired to join terror groups operating in the Kashmir valley.

Further details are awaited.
