J&K: Forces gun down one terrorist in Kupwara

Kupwara, June 19: One terrorist was shot dead in an encounter with security personnel in Kupwara on Sunday afternoon. The terrorist was slain by Kupwara Police and the Army’s 28 RR, or Rashtriya Rifles, during a joint anti-terror operation.

As part of the operation, the joint team was searching for terrorist hideouts when militants opened fire, prompting security personnel to counterattack. Following a tip from an arrested terrorist, Showket Ahmed Sheikh, the encounter took place in the Lolab region of Kupwara.

Search operation is going on. Further details are awaited.
