Srinagar, March 16: Three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were killed in an encounter on the outskirts of Srinagar city on Wednesday. They were allegedly implicated in the death of Khanmoh’s Sarpanch.
“Three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists, who were allegedly involved in the killing of Khanmoh’s Sarpanch, were gunned down in an encounter that broke out in Srinagar’s Nowgam area,” said IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar.

Security personnel had earlier initiated a cordon-and-search operation in the Nowgam region of the city after receiving specific information about the presence of terrorists, according to a police officer.
According to him, the search escalated into an altercation when the terrorists opened fire on security officials, who returned. A large search effort has been initiated in the area to flush out the terrorists lurking in the area, as well as an exchange of fire. Added the official.
Earlier, a LeT terrorist was murdered in the Charsoo region of Awantipora in the Pulwama district on Tuesday. This was the 22nd engagement of the year, and security forces have killed 39 terrorists so far.
