J&K: Forces gun down two LeT-linked terrorists in Shopian

Shopian, June 15: An encounter in the Kanjiular area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian late Tuesday night resulted in the deaths of two terrorists linked to the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Jan Mohammad Lone was one of the terrorists slain in the operation, according to authorities. Lone, a Shopian local, was involved in the Kulgam district’s intentional death of a bank manager.

Tufail Ganai has been identified as the second terrorist. The site of the meeting yielded incriminating materials, weaponry, and ammo, including an AK 47 rifle and a pistol, according to authorities.

“One of the killed #terrorists has been identified as Jan Mohd Lone of #Shopian. Besides other #terror crimes, he was involved in recent killing of Vijay Kumar, Bank manager on 2/6/22 in #Kulgam district” tweeted Kashmir Zone Police quoting IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar.

Notably Vijay Kumar Beniwal, a manager at the Ellaqui Dehati Bank’s Areh Mohanpora branch in the south Kashmir area, was shot and killed by a terrorist in broad daylight earlier this month. Beniwal was from the Rajasthani town of Hanumangarh.
