Shopian, Dec.25: An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Chowgam area of Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir during early hours of Saturday, December 25.
Two unidentified militants were killed in the encounter, according to police.
After receiving information regarding the presence of terrorists in Chowgam in south Kashmir, the security personnel conducted a cordon-and-search operation.
The search escalated into an altercation when militants opened fire on security officials, who retaliated.
The Kashmir Zone Police also informed that incriminating materials including arms & ammunition were recovered in the search opertion which is still underway.
According to the officials, the identities and group affiliations of the killed terrorists in the ensuing battle are still being determined.
