Rajouri, Jan 23: Two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were destroyed in a controlled explosion in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, said a senior police officer on Monday.

The IEDs were recovered on Sunday evening from Dassal village, 4 km from Rajouri town, during a joint operation by police, army, and CRPF.

As per Rajouri police, a joint operation was launched in Dassal and its adjoining area at 6 pm on Sunday by the Police, SOG Rajouri, the Army field Regiment, and CRPF 72B. Two IEDs were recovered during the search.

“Later on IEDs were destroyed by the BDS team,” said Rajouri Police officials.

The IEDs were destroyed in a controlled explosion by the bomb disposal squad in the Chingus forest area, 30 km away from the town.

Moreover, security forces are on high alert across Jammu and Kashmir, where they have intensified checking and strengthened border and highway networks in view of the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra and the upcoming Republic Day.

A fresh alert was issued for the forces after two blasts on Saturday in the Narwal locality of Jammu that left nine persons injured, and the recovery of another IED in Kheora village of Rajouri last week.
