Srinagar: In a major crackdown, the Jammu and Kashmir Police detained a cleric named Maulvi Ishtiyaq from Mewat, Haryana, for his alleged links to a ‘white-collar’ terror module associated with banned outfits Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH). The detained cleric has been brought to Srinagar for interrogation, and sources suggest that a formal arrest is likely soon.

Explosives Recovered From Rented Apartment

Police sources revealed that Maulvi Ishtiyaq had been living in a rented flat inside the Al-Falah University campus in Faridabad, where investigators discovered over 2,500 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, potassium chlorate, and sulfur—key materials used in making explosives.

Ninth Arrest Linked To The Module

With Ishtiyaq’s detention, the total number of arrests in the case has risen to nine. Earlier, police had arrested several individuals including Arif Nisar Dar alias Sahil, Yasir-ul-Ashraf, Maqsood Ahmad Dar alias Shahid (Srinagar), Maulvi Irfan Ahmad (Shopian), Jameer Ahmad Ahangar (Ganderbal), Dr. Muazzamil Ahmad Ganai (Pulwama), and Dr. Adil (Kulgam).

Connection To Red Fort Blast

The investigation has revealed a link between this network and the Red Fort explosion that occurred on Monday evening. Police allege that Dr. Umar Nabi, a member of the same module, was driving the explosive-laden vehicle that detonated near the Red Fort, resulting in multiple casualties.

Terror Network Spanning J&K, Haryana, and UP

The breakthrough came after posters of Jaish-e-Mohammed surfaced in Bunpora Nowgam on October 19. Further investigation exposed a pan-India network extending from Kashmir to Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, operated by educated professionals and students. According to intelligence sources, the module used encrypted communication channels for radicalization, funding, and arms coordination.

Woman Doctor Also Under Investigation

Police are also probing the role of a female doctor from Al-Falah University whose car was found carrying an assault rifle. She has been brought to Srinagar for questioning.

Parallel Crackdown On Jamaat-e-Islami

In a related development, Kulgam Police conducted simultaneous raids on over 200 locations linked to the banned outfit Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) across Jammu and Kashmir, in what is being termed one of the largest anti-terror operations in recent months.
