Ranchi, May 28: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha legislature party today decided on the name of candidate it will field in the Rajya Sabha election for two seats of the state on June 10.
The party, however, did not disclose the name saying it will be done once consultation with Sonia Gandhi and other Congress party leaders on the matter is over.
Party general secretary and spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya briefed the development saying Chief Minister Hemant Soren will leave for Delhi today in the evening to discuss the matter. He made it clear that the party has unanimously decided to field its own candidate to ensure one seat in Rajya Sabha and expected the support of Congress for the same.
Bhattacharya said other decisions taken in the meet include meeting with the president in June for the inclusion of the Sarna religion code in the census form to give Sarna believers a different identity from followers of other religions in the country.
Apart from this, Bhattacharya said the legislature party also discussed the current political situation and expressed its concern over the way BJP is attempting to create political instability in the state.
He said that the party expressing its concern over the situation decided to launch an agitation after the Rajya Sabha election to restrain BJP from giving a narrative against the government.
